Background: Impetigo is a skin infection caused by bacteria that is quite common in infants and children aged 2–5 years. The most common and primary causes are Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria. Impetigo is divided into two types, bullous and crusted, which are distinguished by the lesions and location of the infection. Impetigo commonly occurs due to poor hygiene, such as sharing personal items and not maintaining personal cleanliness. One of the most effective ways of transmission is through direct contact with an infected person. Areas with high humidity and poor environmental hygiene provide an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria that cause impetigo. Method: The research method used was descriptive research with an observational approach. The research was conducted at Mimika District Hospital in January 2025. A total of 74 pediatric patients with impetigo were included in the study. Results: The results of the study show that there was an increase in the number of pediatric patients in 2024, with a total of 54% of patients. Discussion: In 2024, it was found that there were more impetigo patients than in the previous year. This increase was caused by several factors, such as a lack of knowledge about impetigo itself, resulting in a lack of awareness of impetigo in Mimika Regency. In addition, population density also contributed to the spread of impetigo. Conclusion: There has been an increase in the prevalence of impetigo patients at Mimika District Hospital.
