Abstract

Background: The maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia is still quite high and has not yet reached the global and national targets. The main strategy to reduce MMR is Antenatal Care (ANC). There needs to be collaboration between health workers involved in ANC to improve services to pregnant women. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the level of perception of health workers towards the implementation of Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) in ANC  at Puskesmas Air Tawar and Puskesmas Lapai. Methods: This study used an observational analytic method with a cross sectional design with the Collaborative Practice Assessment Tool (CPAT) questionnaire. The study sample was 42 health workers who were determined by the total sampling method. Results: 41 health workers (97.6%) had a high perception of IPC with the components of relationships between members, team relationships with the community, coordination and division of roles, leadership, and mission, goals, and objectives components having the highest percentage (97.6%) while the components of decision making and conflict management had moderate perceptions (71.4%). There was no significant difference between all CPAT components and the age, profession, and length of service of the respondents (p > 0.05). Discussion: High perceptions in most domains indicate a collaborative culture; moderate scores on decision-making–conflict indicate a need for training, shared SOPs, and standardized resolution mechanisms. Conclusion: Health workers have a high level of perception of IPC in ANC services, but there is still a moderate perception in one component of perception. There is no influence between age, profession, and length of service with the perception of health workers in the implementation of IPC in ANC services.
