Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and hyperglycemia. This condition is often accompanied by elevated triglyceride levels, which can trigger systemic inflammatory processes. The neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inflammatory biomarker that can reflect the degree of inflammation type 2 diabetes mellitus. The role of triglycerides and NLR in the inflammatory and process and related complications prompted this study, which aims to determine whether there is a relationship between triglyceride levels and the neutrophil lymphocyte ratio in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method: The study design used a descriptive cross-sectional approach with a research method involving hospital visits. The data used were secondary data obtained from patient medical records. Results: The results of study showed a correlation between triglyceride levels and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The higher the triglyceride levels, the higher the triglyceride levels, the higher the NLR values. Discussion: These findings have important implications for the management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Triglyceride levels and the neutrophil lymphocyte ratio can be used as indicators to monitor the risk of cardiometabolic complications. Conclusion: The higher the triglyceride levels, the higher the NLR values, therefore, hypertriglyceridemia has the potential to exacerbate systemic inflammation in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
